Brief Description of Place of Worship.

St Mary's is a medieval church of great character and charm, which demonstrates its chronology in a most graphic and impressive way (EH Report). The oldest parts of the Nave date from 1210 and the Tower from 1320. It has an historic Joseph Hart organ and the Quilters (who built Bawdsey Manor) have a family tomb in the Churchyard.

It is open at least from 9am till 5pm in Winter
and at least from 8am to 8pm in Summer.

a - Bawdsey is a small village, approximately 7 miles (11km) south-east of Melton on the B1083 road. The church is situated in the centre of the village, about half a mile (1km) from the sea.
